These services will address the critical transition needs of these individuals by 1) providing workforce re-entry training and job services in a specialized American Job Center located in the Westchester County Correctional Facility; 2) providing a continuum of job services by transitioning participants post-release to the community AJC (either located within Westchester/Putnam counties or located within the participants¿ home locations) and linking released inmates to comprehensive community wrap-around services, and 3) using an established network of business sector partners to provide work experience and job opportunities.

The purpose of the TANF Summer Youth Employment Program is to provide summer employment jobs to eligible youth. A direct, hands-on experience in a job is an effective method of assisting youth in experiencing the rewards of doing a good job and receiving a paycheck. The use of a financial incentive, via wages, is a powerful motivator for youth to come to work, to come to work on time, do the job, and to stay on the job. The TANF Summer Youth Employment Program is designed to provide services to youth ages 14 to 20 during the summer months.

Program Year 2013

TANF Summer Youth Employment Program. The Westchester County Department of Social Services Office of Workforce Investment, on behalf of the Westchester/Putnam Local Workforce Investment Board, is soliciting proposals from public and private not-for-profit organizations to operate a summer youth employment program that will provide work experience to youth ages 14-20 years of age. The New York State Office of Children and Family Services is expected to fund the TANF Summer Youth Employment program. The availability and level of funding has yet to be determined. Grant Writing Services for USDOL ETA H1B Technical Skills Training Grant Solictiation RFQ, Anticipated Solicitation Announcement: Spring 2013. Approximately $130 million will be available for an H-1B Technical Skills Training (TST) Grants. This grant program is designed to provide education, training, and job placement assistance in the occupations and industries for which employers are using H-1B visas to hire foreign workers. H-1B TST Grants are financed by a user fee, paid by employers, to bring foreign workers into the United States under the H-1B non-immigrant visa program. DOL will fund up to $30 million to grantees that provide On-the Job Training (OJT) to all participants, especially those focusing on serving small businesses. DOL also intends to fund at least $40 million to applicants proposing to serve long-term unemployed, returning service members and veterans, and unemployed young adults (ages 18-24) that meet the education and skill requirements. Grant Writing Services for Reintegration of Ex-Offenders (RExO) Adult RFQ, Anticipated Solicitation Announcement: Spring 2013. This grant program is designed to strengthen the communities to which the majority of ex-offenders return. The program focuses on training opportunities that lead to industry recognized credentials and job opportunities. Adult programs help to develop strategies for career advancement and encourage life-long learning. Strive for the Future Program.
