The manufacturing sector in Westchester and Putnam Counties continue to drive growth in the region’s economy, as advances in technology and machine tools have had a tremendous impact on employment. Firms in the Pharmaceutical, Solar, Bio-Technology, Aerospace, Automotive, Computer & Technology, and Telecommunications Industries offer exciting careers for individuals who can possess the talent and skills this evolving sector demands.
The Westchester-Putnam One-Stop Career Center, in partnership with Fenbar Precision Machinists and the Council of Industry (the manufacturers association of the Hudson Valley) lead the Advanced Manufacturing Sector Partnership. These partners work with area employers to identify workforce needs and training programs designed to meet the employee skill levels manufacturers demand - today, and in the future.
Manufacturing Sector Partnership activities to date include:
- Westchester Community College Apprenticeship Programs: A new program designed by and for area employers and WCC for aspiring students to enter the workforce and learn how to work with advanced technology and machinery, and work with employers to support major area projects, including rebuilding the Tappan Zee Bridge.
Current Partners Include:
- Fenbar Precision Machinists
- Council of Industry
