Teresita Wisell, Vice President of Workforce Development & Community Education, Donovan Beckford, Director of the Westchester-Putnam Workforce Development Board, Eridania Camacho, Director of Gateway to Entrepreneurship – G2EWhite Plains, NY – The 2016 Fall New York State Association of Training and Employment Professionals (NYATEP) awarded the Just Add One initiative with the state’s 2016 NYATEP NYS Workforce Program Award. The honor was bestowed in Albany at the Oct. 25 NYATEP conference.

NYATEP, a 501 (C) (3), serves the workforce development community throughout the State by providing leadership, vision and advocacy for a thriving workforce. The organization focuses on ensuring that every New Yorker and employer in the state has access to the skills they need to support a robust statewide economy.

The award recognizes Just Add One for its approach, in collaboration with the Business Council of Westchester, to effectively identify businesses to enroll in the program and connect with volunteer coaches.

“Westchester is proud of the Workforce Development Board and their outstanding efforts to help the business community,” said Westchester County Executive Robert P. Astorino. “I encourage any small business that is looking to grow to participate in this program.”

The Just Add One program was developed and funded by the Westchester-Putnam Workforce Development Board and is being offered through Westchester Community College to assist eligible small business owners to create strategies that strengthen their business models/operations and make them more efficient. Their goal is to help 35 participating businesses contribute to the economic growth in the region. WCC was given a grant through the Westchester –Putnam Workforce Development Board to run the program. Eridana Camacho, who oversees the program at the College, accepted the award on behalf on the Westchester-Putnam Workforce Development Board.

“The Just Add One program is an invaluable resource to the growing small businesses of Westchester County,” said Michael J. Wieser, Esq., a Just Add One Instructor. “The unique combination of best practices learning workshops, one-on-one coaching and dynamic and engaging monthly peer-to-peer networking and mastermind sessions gives the participants valuable access to other successful entrepreneurs and a broad team of trusted advisors and colleagues to help grow their businesses. It was masterfully run by caring and committed professionals and the rewards were enjoyed by all who participated on both the participant and the instructor-side.”

In addition to weekly classes, which focus on leadership, strategic planning, branding, customer services and human resources, entrepreneurs participate in one-on-one coaching sessions to review what they learned in the classroom and how to apply it to their business. These sessions can take place in person or by telephone. Participants also participate in peer-to-peer workshops to identify and solve business challenges.

The program runs for 10 weeks and costs $300. The next Just Add One program will start in January 2017 and applications are now being accepted. Business who have a growth goal that enable them to hire at least one employee are eligible.
