With the increased need for these services, the One-Stop Career Center has hired six new employees as Job Development Specialists and Career Counselors.

Job seekers looking to utilize their current skillset, as well as those pursuing a career change, can work with the counselors who will guide them through the various programs offered, assist with resume writing and interview preparedness, and make direct connections to employers on their behalf.

One such program is Jobs Waiting, a federally-funded regional job training program that prepares long-and-short-term unemployed individuals for jobs in the healthcare, information technology, biotech, and advanced manufacturing – the Hudson Valley’s fastest-growing sectors.

The new Counselors are Judith King, Andrew Wainer, Shauna White-Kulinski, Leslie Meggett, Melissa Thompson, and Charlene Kyle-Davis.

The board is appointed by the Westchester County and Putnam County Executives. The WDB members are appointed in accordance with the Federal Workforce Investment Act and represent both public entities and private sector businesses.

The Board provides an environment where job seekers and employers interact to meet the needs for a highly qualified regional workforce. The WPWDB seeks to strengthen partnerships with business sectors, service providers and the public education system to offer career services and various training modalities to youth and adults. Seeking innovative solutions driven by regional business needs, WPWDB develops model programs, pursues funding opportunities, and shares leading edge practices. The One-Stop Career Centers are physical locations that provide resources and services to jobseekers to assist in their job search and development and or career change. The centers are staffed by a wide cross section of staff drawn from the one stop centers partnering agencies.
