The Westchester VITA Program is Seeking Volunteers for the Upcoming Tax Season
The Westchester-Putnam Workforce Development Board (WPWDB) and Westchester County Department of Social Services (DSS) are recruiting volunteers for the upcoming Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) Program. The VITA Program provides vital support by helping low and moderate-income individuals and families file their taxes and receive the refunds they deserve, all at no cost.
Volunteers play a crucial role in various program activities including tax preparation, language translation, call-center operations, and acting as friendly site greeters. Regardless of your professional background or experience level, we welcome your participation in the VITA Program.
Volunteer Training Sessions
Training and certification for volunteer tax preparers is sponsored by the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) and is provided free of charge. The training will take place virtually and at a number of locations (to be determined at a later date). We will be asking for a specific weekly time commitment to ensure that the best possible support can be provided to those in need.
VITA Locations and Dates
The VITA program typically runs from February to April every tax season, and has operated at locations in the Bronx, Dobbs Ferry, Hartsdale, Mount Vernon, Ossining, Valhalla, White Plains, and Yonkers. In the upcoming tax season, we expect to expand to additional locations.
