Business Training Opportunities

Our workforce development team offers training incentives to help employers defray the cost of training new hires and/or current employees. These training reimbursement programs require employers to execute a contract with Westchester County which are valid for a 4-year period and can be used for multiple training opportunities. Fill out the short contact form below to schedule a phone call with our business team to learn more.

Training Programs Overview:

  1. On-The-Job Training (OJT) helps compensate employers for the time and resources associated with training a new employee. Employers can receive up to 50% of a new hire’s total wages paid during a defined training period (up to 6 months). Candidates must be previously unemployed/under-employed, hired as a full-time salaried employee, and participate in a supervised training plan.
  2. Incumbent Worker Training (IWT) reimburses 50% of group training costs provided by a qualified training provider or school for current employees.
  3. Business Sector Customized Training is a collaborative approach used by three or more business in the same industry to upskill and train their existing workforce. Up to $50,000 per training collaboration is available.
  4. Work Tryouts pay for the salaries of an employee candidate who has participated in our job readiness training at no cost to you for a period of 6–8 weeks. The candidates are pre-screened and 1099 contractors of Westchester County.
