“This grant will help young adults explore varying healthcare career paths at no cost, allowing them the flexibility to learn about different types of jobs without incurring debt,” stated Thom Kleiner, Director, Westchester-Putnam WDB. “This kind of opportunity is invaluable for people who are unsure of their options and need support.”

“Getting exposure to many types of jobs within the healthcare field without getting locked in too soon, will help the youth and young adults of New Rochelle, Mount Vernon, and Yonkers make decisions for a future that fits their professional aspirations. In addition, our students will have experiential learning and opportunities for employment thanks to our employer partners Montefiore, Burke Rehabilitation, and The Wartburg. These are the opportunities young adults need to increase their exposure to healthcare careers and to inform their long-term career decisions,” adds Dr. LaTasha Hamlett-Carver, Division Coordinator, Workforce Development and Community Education, Westchester Community College. “We encourage anyone in the eligible age range in these communities to find out more information or pass it on to someone you know.”

The grant is funded by the Westchester-Putnam Career Center Network, Westchester Community College, Westchester Community Foundation, and by Westchester Workforce Funders Collaborative.
